7 Things you should know before talking about guns

This is a video by comedian Lou Perez. I thought the 7 things would be things about guns, but they're bits of advice like his last one, if you are for gun control then stop calling Trump "Hitler" because calling for gun control while Hitler is in office sounds suicidal. That is the title of the post at Legal Insurrection, the post over there chosen because it has the most comments.

I thought AR in AR-15 stood for assault rifle because that's what it looks like.

And I thought silencers silenced guns, toof toof, like in the movies. A muffler for guns.

His point about assault rifles being the gun that can take down both a deer in the woods and government raises a point were gun owners and 2nd Amendment antagonists will never agree. Some gun owners believe citizens must stay armed to keep government checked. While the idea of actual confrontation between population and government sounds mental to most other people.

He doesn't mention anything about bump stocks. I'm assuming a bump stock converts a semi-automatic into automatic weapon.

A bump stock stores the weapons recoil in a spring and then releases that energy to push the trigger back into the shooters finger. It technically isn't an automatic because each round is fired by depressing and then releasing the trigger before another round is fired. It also uses a mechanical method to recycle the action rather than ported gas from the barrel.

If we agree automatic should be controlled, and that's the law currently; then I think there is good reason to ban bump stocks. They don't help in hunting because they require a looser grip that makes poorly affects aim.

Personally, I like a country where enough money can buy you a P-51 Mustang or B-17 Flying Fortress, both are far better weapons of war than a bump stock. There is only one vehicle type that has delivered a nuclear weapon in anger, and the only 2 flying examples of that vehicle type are privately owned.

You can bump-fire any semi-auto rifle or shotgun by sticking the thumb of your firing hand in a belt loop, and there are plenty of YouTube videos that will show that in detail. Might be fun to do once or twice at the range, but it wastes ammo, and accuracy goes right to hell.

I think 'they' are coming after all semi-autos this time.
"Why does anyone need an AR-15? Those are strictly military"
Then why does every cop in America have one?

Ignorant people who talk about guns through their ignorance of guns, gun use, gun culture, gun rights will never understand the rights they have in their possession. It's one thing to not want to own a gun. That is the true gun control. It's another to not wanting anyone else to own a gun. That is tyranny and it will not stand.

I've been a gun user and owner since I was five years old. My parents knew and understood and came from a culture where guns were frowned upon and in some cases prohibited. When they came to this country, that all changed. My father understood intrinsically the natural right of self-defense and for him as well as my entire family, codified in the 2A. Anyone seeking to take that right away from you is your enemy and should be treated that way.

It's one thing to not want to own a gun. You have the right to not exercise your rights, but do not presume or ever think that your opinion, ideology, or imposition of will because of a tragedy as an appeal to emotion should lead to a usurpation of my rights. Especially my 2A rights.

The answer to this question, "Why does anyone need an AR-15? Those are strictly military" is because and because I can. That's it. No further elaboration is required. Also, an AR is a civilian version of the M4 or M16 depending on configuration. Ignorant people require education and if they choose not to listen, then they cannot be helped. I'm not a fan of bump fire stocks only because I think they are a gimmick that creates a lack of control, but who cares. You can make your AR bump fire using a rubber band. I've done it.

AR stands for Armalite Rifle (original maker) and I read somewhere silencers are more to protect the hearing of the shooter than to make for a silent shot.

If that's in error, I will happily stand corrected.

The 2nd Amendment is not about deer hunting. The 2nd Amendment is about the last recourse against tyrants.

Leftists are gun dumbasses. They interchange automatic and semi-automatic all the freaking time.

Me262s are strictly military and were used by Nazis, but one of the remaining flying version is owned privately by an American. Its not military equipment that harms people, its people that harm people. But you all know it already.

Lefties get all emotional about guns. Which actually worries me a bit. They might give themselves strokes.

A lot of liberals bump stock their tongues.

Ed, just a minor point of clarification. They are not called silencers. That's the kind of shit you get from movies. They are called Suppressors and they are designed to do a few of things. The first is to minimize if not eliminate muzzle flash. Not giving your position away due to muzzle flash (or the escaping propellant gases being ignited) is very important. The second is to decrease the sound signature of the muzzle blast by trapping the propellant gasses in the internal baffling in the suppressor itself. There are a lot of baffle designs out there. Depending on caliber it can be quite a bit of suppression of sound. It will never be silent or otherwise. The third thing in some instances is to actually increase the velocity of the bullet as it leaves the barrel. Not by a lot, but a few extra feet per second can make a difference.

Marxicrats who poo-poo suppressors by calling them silencers and denigrating them as somehow being the tool of assassins or some other nonsense are clueless morons who have zero knowledge on such matters and are not to be taken seriously. In any way.
